I know that they CAN unlock it since they are the ones who have locked it in the first place and I can pay someone to do it online, but they are just REFUSING to. I called t-mobile immediately and they said they could not unlock my phone since I am not a customer. When I swapped sim cards it gave an error indicating my phone was locked. I called to cancel my plan two days ago, and they did. I moved out of the USA and needed to switch to a different provider. I bought my phone outright (iphone 6 plus) a few years ago and have been with t-mobile about 3 years.
